George Bush's Children
My good English friend recently spent some time in the South of the U.S.A. visiting some kinfolk, and his heartfelt letter was something I had to share. -- dcDear David,
I have been here, down south in the heart, nay the very bosom of the Fascist States (state) of America for ten whole days. Today I return to the 51st State.
Before I fly I would like to share with you a couple of my experiences.
I have been wined and dined (as usual) by the very people who I like to refer to as 'George Bush's Children.' In England we would refer to these same people as either 'Ronnie's Kids' or 'Thatcher's Children.' These people seem happy to live in a world dominated by the second amendment. They are 'Conservatives' and proudly proclaim themselves as an endangered minority. Liberals are everywhere, as in the '50s it was the deadly scourge of Communism that threatened the Land of the Free, today it is the wicked ideology of Liberalism or Left Wing politics. The problem is that 'George's Kids' confuse Liberalism with people simply just not agreeing with what they believe.
'Hell! Those liberals would handcuff me to my bed, steal my guns and burn my house down with me and my wife and kids still in it! Those liberals are just evil!', proclaimed a friendly neighbour here. 'Do you identify with George Bush as a person?" I asked, 'Hell yes' came the answer 'Why?' Came the question, 'because when he says that he will do something, he sure as hell does it!' It sounds like a simple ideology. Down here being a conservative simply means being a patriotic citizen. 'We are Freedom loving people, we believe in freedom loving countries,'.... Hmm... So why don't you practise what you preach? Doesn't a freedom loving country practise FREE SPEECH? "Not if it attacks its own country' came the reply. Doesn't this attitude look like hypocrisy? I asked. No one dared answer.
We flicked on the TV and watched, of course, FOX NEWS. 'I'm sorry, ' I said 'In England when we watch something like this it is referred to as a PARTY POLITICAL BROADCAST.' ...'Hell no,' came the reply 'This is fair and balanced' meaning that anything of a conservative nature is fair and balanced simply because it is conservative. Mr O'Reilly calls the NO TRUTH ZONE the NO SPIN ZONE. Indeed if you watch News trailers for FOX NEWS it is like watching a trailer for the Republican Party.
Yes, the conservatives have seized the media and control them. America's natural colour is BLUE, A President, or a good President is either A Reagan or a Bush snr or jnr. Tax dollars are only used for American weapons of war. Poor people are NON TAX PAYERS so are NON PEOPLE.
On HARDBALL with Chris Matthews I saw America's potential saving grace, AL SHARPTON, shoot down everyone of Matthew's political statements (shrouded as questions, fair and balanced questions.) when Sharpton pushed Matthew's onto the back foot Matthew's would simply answer 'Er... Next question,' or 'We're back after this break!'
America's Conservatives have decided (incorrectly) that they are the beating heart of America, its very character and flesh and blood. To entertain the opinion of someone who simply ISN'T a Bush or a Reaganite fan makes that someone a liberal or a socialist... But then what's wrong with an American and patriotic socialist or liberal?
In 1960's JFK said 'We must re evaluate our attitude with the rest of the world, with other countries including the soviet union. We cannot live in a world, a PAX AMERICANA, dominated by American weapons of war.'
I can't wait to see the CBS film about Ronald Reagan. James Brolin better not venture south and let the sun set on his arse.
