Down Bush Polls

You ask on your website about strangely anti-Bush poll results. In the last few days I've seen several. It's making me nervous. I can only see 3 possible explanations:

1. The polls have always been accurate and the current ones are reflecting a genuine, dramatic shift in public opinion.

2. The polls were always skewed until now, but whoever was doing the skewing has had a spiritual epiphany and stopped skewing them.

3. The polls were always skewed, but the real power behind Bush has decided he must go (an active rumor), and said power is actively aiding the dramatic shift in the polls.

#3 seems the only one that makes any sense. So the worrisome thing is--what is their plan if they dump Bush? Wait until 2008 and let a Democratic president reverse everything Bush has done?

Or perhaps run a ringer among the Dems?

The one thing I know is, this group isn't going to go away if Bush loses, and the next guy they get in the White House is going to be much smarter and subtler.

Dear L,

It could be that the polls are more than skewed, basically manufactured. It could be that they are skewed but things are so bad now under Bush that even showing a skewed version, they don't think they can maintain any credibility if they don't show some discontent. The online polls might reflect more raw data than the traditional, scientific samples, but so unscientific that little can be drawn from them.

But I agree that the most important possibility to consider is the last and most realistic scenario. The giant, shadowy powers have decided Bush is going, so all the media is shifting. Then, as Mike Ruppert pointed out, we are left with the Patriot Act, hellish ongoing military engagements in several countries, all the horrible damage that the Bush administration has caused every day for the last few years, and as you say, a slicker, smoother, more moderate looking face in the White House. Iraq's is under control, the mechanism for extorting billions from taxpayers to pay insider corporations like Halliburton to "rebuild" Iraq is in place, oil is flowing and we're ready for the next act to begin.

To the extent that some powers are strong enough to control to a major extent these kinds of events, what we have then is a period of mad fascist march followed by a more moderate period to calm down the masses a little, put them deeper into hypnosis again, but under a new status quo much more fascistic in character. It's not such a bad strategy.
