Grim Fascination:
Hi,
A Letter from AbroadI do not normally write out of the blue, but I read your material on Bush Watch with fascination and horror.
What concerns me is this: as a business planner, the sophistication of the Sept 11th incident does not mix with an organisation whose MO is wiring up a device and delivering to a building or ship. This can be done from a cave in Afghanistan without sophisticated controls, or project management. 09/11 was very different. THERE HAD TO BE SOPHISTICATED CONTROL ON THE GROUND IN THE US. Who was it?? Granted that they used bodies from the Bin Laden network (perhaps) but who was the driving force?? With 000's of FBI agents (and National Security and etc etc) it is bizarre that this underlying force has not yet appeared. I have read the concerns that the information that the administration in the US had more knowledge than they admit on the background to 9/11, but how far does this go??
Sorry to burden you with these musings, but it is one of the most dangerous situations that I have experienced

Thanks for writing "out of the blue". It's all more or less out of the blue these days, and the way things are going we all may be blasted out of the blue at any moment.
Your point is well taken. The sophistication, as well as the magnitude of the destructiveness and the savagery of the WTC attacks are utterly mind-boggling. And everything you are noting is part of the intended effect of this production. Part of the power of the entity behind it is its mysteriousness, the image it creates of nearly absolute power. The underlying uncertainty about who did it and why is part of its value as a control mechanism.
In regard to whether or not this controlling force has appeared, it may be a matter of focus. That is, the entity is visible, but only comes into focus when you become aware of it. And what a horror that moment of recognition is! As far as secrecy, it is a function of military hierarchies. When you hear the numbers behind military and intelligence budgets, they are too massive to register in meaningful ways. On a human scale what are hundreds of billions of dollars that go into the military budget every year? In reality it is awesome power turned toward ultimately destructive ends and I think that is part of what we are seeing manifesting now in ways few Americans ever contemplated.
The ultimate message from our leaders is that we are utterly dependent on them for our survival, that we can be wiped out by their merely refraining from protecting us. On a whim, they can relax their vigilance and we can be blasted out of existence. This is the "kinder and gentler" face of "compassionate conservatism." So here we sit, utterly vulnerable, with no real leaders to protect us, only an out-of-control junta pushing the world toward a widening state of war and destructiveness and keeping us in line by the implied threat that if we don't go along, we too will fall into the line of fire.
So our choices as Americans are not pleasant, but fairly clear. We can sit like docile sheep and hope to stay out of harm's way, never knowing when it is our turn and never again feeling safe. Or we can stand up against the rule of a small group of reckless and murderous people who are railroading the world down a path toward grim destruction.
Though the thought of standing up to whoever could perform such awesomely destructive acts is daunting, the other choice is no choice at all.
What is even more awesome than the power of the creeps that "lead" us, is the power latent within the population. Again we are talking about numbers that are too vast to register when we hear them mentioned. But when hundreds of millions of Americans are aroused, that is a colossal power. It is the one thing the politicians really fear. Only a relatively small shift in attitude, when multiplied by millions upon millions of people, is a power that dwarfs nuclear power. Again we come back to awareness. That is the key.
So speak out! Spread the word! David
