Enron, World Com and now Xerox! looks like Corporate America has gone into melt down.

Have you read 'The World we're in' by Will Hutton? Its very interesting comentary on the differences of American and European capitalism.

I didn't even hear about the Xerox thing yet. I'm getting my news from England now. It's weird indeed, the corporate meltdown. Where is it headed?

I hope Cheney doesn't decide to bomb England during his two hours as president.

Cheney bomb England? Like most republicans I very much doubt that he knows where England is, or whether (like the rest of the world) if it exists at all!

Regarding these corporate scandals, do you think there is the remotest chance that Bush could lose the next election? Personally I think not. That passionate republican, Osama Bin Ladin, handed him his next election (a landslide) on a plate on sept 11th.

As for where this series of corporate scandals will lead to next, well thats obvious, the UK of course. The USA has been reasonably successful in exporting its model of Conservative Corporate capitalism to us. It started off as Thatcherism and then became the 'Third Way' under Blair.

Christ, if sept 11th hadn't of happened I'm sure that Americans would be shouting for Bush's head by now!

God I hope you're wrong about a Bush re-election, but I guess one must be able to accommodate worst case scenarios. Ugh!

Another thing occurred to me the other day, the possibility of a brain drain in the U.S. as happened in Nazi Germany. If it goes too much farther the way it is heading, it may just be better for a whole lot of intellectuals to get their asses out of the country if they don't want to be killed, tortured, imprisoned, starved, lobotomized...

A worst case scenario? I give you one....

Bush continues to use the lie 'War on Terrorism' to justify his programme of deficit spending and tax cuts for the rich. By stating that his administrations crusade is now 'THE WAR" he will be able to ignore the inequality that exists in America, side with the Pro Nazi Israeli's against the Palestinians ( Hitler taught them everything they know) continue to follow a right wing corporate agenda, unchecked,( because to challenge him will be considered 'unpatriotic'), be re elected on a huge emotional 'Land of the Free' landslide,( which will work because all right wing conservatives use the Constitution and 1st amendment as a smoke screen to hide their unequal and anti social agenda,) and then after two terms of continual deficit spending, Bush will move on to a career on the lecture circuit. Leaving Colin Powell (who will get elected as the first Black President) to be the one to drop the bombshell to the American people and say 'Sorry folks, we're damn near broke, the war will go on, and I am going to have to shaft the poorest 80% of you to dig this country out of the economic and social shit hole the last president dug for you!.... All in the name of Liberty!'

And while this happens the country that use to be and had the greatest potential to be a truly free, equal and liberal society (USA) will end up cutting its own throat while various undemocratic, uncivilized and unliberal regimes in the world will win the proganda war against what it calls the "GREAT SATAN!"

Perhaps the only good that will come out this will be that the American People will finally see where the Conservative Corporate Agenda has taken them, and they will call for a 'house clearing!'

Personally i think that America's liberals and intellectuals need to stay put and fight for their country from within their country.

Christ, Bin Laden was the best thing that happened to this adminstration. Sept 11th made everyone, Conservatives and Liberals alike close ranks behind George Bush and his adminstration.
