Media Keeps US Public Clueless

Mark Hertsgaard in today's Guardian writes that the biggest lie told to the American people following 9-11 is that the people in much of the world hate Americans. Bush claimed that people hate Americans because they are free, and many other politicians echoed it. But Hertsgaard says, "But the world doesn't hate us, the American people. It is our government, our military, and our corporations that are resented."

And the reason Americans don't realize that they are becoming targets and victims because of the acts of a relatively tiny minority of Americans who benefit from the military domination of third world countries is because "most of what we're told about it is little more than semi-official propaganda." -- By David Cogswell
